Newcastle Technical and
University College Speleological Society (NTUCSS) and Newcastle
University Speleological Society (NUSS) The Newcastle Technical and University College Speleological Society (NTUCSS) was a caving club with members from the Newcastle Technical College and the UNSW campus of Newcastle (the Newcastle University College). In 1965 the University College became the University of Newcastle in its own right and later the University and the Technical college merged and the name of the club merged also to become the Newcastle University Speleological Society (NUSS).The club is no longer current. Prior to 1959 there was a joint publication with the Newcastle Technical and University College Bushwalking Club called "The Newcastle Bushwalker", which ran from August 1956 and finished in May 1961. NTUCSS produced only some "news-sheets" before the production of their first and only journal, called "Cave", which was given this name starting from August 1960. They also produced a Code of Ethics and an Annual in 1963. NUSS kept the journal title, and also put out a "Guide for Prospective Cavers" in 1968. Access to these journals requires ASF membership and
