Northern Caverneers (NC)
and Tasmanian Caverneering Club Northern Branch (TCC-NB) Publications
The Northern Caverneers are
a highly active caving club in the north of Tasmania, where they spend a lot of
their time exploring and researching the magnificent Mole Creek area.
Consequently the club takes a large number of beautiful photos! They are also
experienced and active in cave rescue, both in organising practice exercises and
in undertaking the real thing.
Northern Caverneers formed as the Northern Branch of the
Tasmanian Caverneering Club in 1961 and was originally known as the
'Tasmanian Caverneering Club Northern Branch (TCC-NB)', which used the
name 'Troglodyte" for both a Bulletin and a news sheet (Troglodyte Topics).
It is not exactly clear from the publications when Northern Caverneers changed
their name and became their own entity, but it was incorporated as 'Northern
Caverneers Inc.' in 1990.
The Northern Caverneers continued the TCC-NB name of "Troglodyte" for their journal publication. There had been a
long gap since the last TCC-NB publication, but the first NC Troglodyte appears to have started with Volume 2 Issue 1 in 1989.
Since 2002 there have been 2 issues a year (mostly), with 2 issues to a volume.
